Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
